Exploring the Leeds Beckett Innovation Network

Introducing the Innovation Network

Earlier today, we headed over to a fantastic event organised by Leeds Beckett University, promoting their Innovation Network, and discussing the effects that the network’s had across Wakefield and the wider Leeds City Region.

Essentially, the Innovation Network is designed to solve two key problems - businesses not having access to skills that they can benefit from, and students not having opportunities to turn their skills into careers. The Innovation Network, encompassing a wide range of organisations, aims to solve these issues in a number of ways, providing students with placements where they can use their skills to make real differences for companies, while also offering a wide range of funding and support for both businesses and students.

With the Innovation Network set up to help businesses of all sizes, from startups (and pre-launch companies) to market leaders, the organisation has been able to make a real difference, giving businesses vital access to skills ranging from machine learning to psychology, while creating a huge number of opportunities for recent graduates.

The Innovation Network is one of the many aspects of Leeds Beckett University’s Enterprise Services, a huge ongoing effort from the University to develop and improve the range of opportunities available for students while also supporting local business.

Another side of this effort is the University Business Centre program, a major endeavour from Leeds Beckett. The University’s opened up a number of centres across the Leeds City Region, including Leeds, Wakefield, and the soon-to-open Halifax, all designed to provide unmatched incubation space for local emerging businesses, providing the companies with expert training, guidance and amazing opportunities, all in an excellent modern office space, built to include a huge range of advanced features.

We’re proud to be supporting the University Business Centre program by providing market-leading DarkLight Internet connectivity to all of the centres. A completely unique connectivity option, DarkLight makes ultrafast connectivity more accessible than ever, hugely benefiting business performance while cutting costs and opening up the doors to some excellent possibilities - all major advantages for the emerging businesses working in the University Business Centres.
