Just a week until #exabytes17!

Getting ready for #exabytes17

Over the last few weeks, we’ve been working to finalise everything possible for #exabytes17, our incredible teacher-led conference on technology in and around the classroom, and we’re proud to be practically ready to go! #exabytes17 is just a week away, taking place all day on Friday the 7th of July in Bradford’s incredible Midland Hotel.

A great event for all teachers, #exabytes17 is all about giving teachers a fantastic environment to explore the many different ways that technology can be used in and around the classroom, with over 30 great sessions covering everything from new lesson plans to hands-on activities showing visitors how to use Raspberry Pi, Minecraft and more to create engaging and memorable lessons for learners.

This is the second year that we’re running an #exabytes conference, and we’re looking to make this one even better, with a fantastic selection of sessions designed to have something for absolutely everyone. In this blog, we’ve put together some information to help you get the very best out of your time at #exabytes17!

What’s Planned for #exabytes17?

With over 80 sessions having been submitted for #exabytes17, we’ve picked out the most popular requests for our programme to make sure that there’s something for absolutely every attendee at #exabytes17 - we’ve also combined a few sessions into panel discussions, giving visitors a chance to explore more perspectives on major topics.

Below, we’ve posted our draft programme - stay tuned for a final release soon, along with some more information about what’s planned for every session!

We’ve designed our programme for the day to give guests the time to get to whichever sessions they’re interested in without missing anything - there’s no track system, so you’ll be able to visit sessions which actually interest you!

Keep in mind that, as #exabytes17 is a (raspberry?) jam-packed event, we’ll be looking to kick the show off at 9AM sharp - don’t miss out!

Heading to the Bradford TeachMeet

The evening before #exabytes17, we’re hosting a separate Bradford TeachMeet, designed to help teachers share some new methods, tools and approaches to the classroom, while getting a great chance to meet and network with peers from around the country.

This year’s Bradford TeachMeet will also be hosted at the Bradford Midland Hotel, and is scheduled to run from 6PM to 8:30 on Thursday the 6th of July. Across the evening, you’ll have some time to meet other visitors before a SpeedMeet (a quick session for sharing resources and strategies) and a series of 5 minute TeachMeet presentations covering a diverse range of topics.

Attending the TeachMeet is completely free - we’d encourage you to attend even if you’re not heading to #exabytes17! Click through to our TeachMeet page to register!

Getting to #exabytes17

The Midland Hotel is one of the more conveniently located places in Bradford - it’s right next to the Bradford Forster Square train station, about a 15 minute walk away if you’re heading in from the Bradford Interchange. Right next to the Broadway shopping centre, the hotel is extremely accessible.

If you’re planning on staying overnight, there’s two hotels that we’d point you towards - the Midland itself, or the more budget Travelodge Bradford Central (just a couple of minutes away from the Midland).

For those who haven’t driven to Bradford during the early rush before, keep in mind that it can take a lot longer to get into town than you might think, with traffic jams being relatively common in the morning.

We’d just like to thank everyone who’s taking the time to visit #exabytes17, particularly those who’ve volunteered their time to run sessions at the conference - we’ll see you all in a week!
